Spring is coming

You can tell Spring is coming.
I love the smells at this time of year.
The sounds thrill the senses.

Abby has been saying 'side, side' all day long. She is loving the freedom to walk around and to play ball. No boots, gloves or snow in her way. I have suddenly had the strong urge to deep clean my house.

You can tell that we live in Canada. The weather channel says that it is 9 degrees out and people are wearing sweaters, some flip flops, and NO COATS.

Ahh... spring

My not so awesome car

While I am saving up money to fix my van, I will be driving Steve's Golf.

This interesting car starts with a switch! I feel like a Nascar driver everytime I start the car. The car is also lowered. Sometimes I bottom out on the speed bumps in my complex. I will take a pic soon and post it. It will give you a good laugh.

Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS)

Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS) also called Amniotic Constriction Band Syndrome is a set of congenital birth defects believed to be caused by entrapment of fetal parts (usually a limb or digits) in fibrous amniotic bands while in utero.

In other words: Before the baby was born the body part(s) that was affected by ABS (arm, fingers, toes, etc.,) was caught up and entangled in string-like bands. This caused abnormalities that were present at birth.

I had never heard of this before.

When my baby girl was born, I did the toe and finger count. When I got to her left foot, the toes look 'funny'. It was like her toes were squished together. The doctors nor nurses said not a thing. I thought this was normal and as time went on, the toes would fix up.

But, nothing fixed up.

I took her to my family doctor, and he was puzzled. We took her to a pediatrician. He gave us a very grave diagnosis. He said that Abby had ABS and to look it up on the internet. He said that she would need orthotics. He sent us on our way.

We were very puzzled, so we saw another pediatrician. This guy was a little better, but we were still left with questions that the internet did not answer.

Life went on. We tried not to make a big deal about her toes. She started walking. There was no problem what so ever. We all breathed a sigh of relief.

The other day Abby was dancing, and she was dancing on her toes! Little miracles like that make my life better.

It pains me a lot to see my baby's toes and it is hard to not feel like I did something wrong while I was pregnant. Until I knew what ABS was, I blamed my self. She is a beautiful girl and I hope that her toes do not affect her in life.

Bad Day

I was having a very bad day the other day.
Number one...
I knew my van had problems, but was not sure of the extent. Well....I needed new tires on the front of the van (I assumed that because the van swayed while we drove), the bearings on the wheels are toast, and the transmission has a leak. We spent $205 to get the new tires. We took the van to a mechanic to see what it cost to fix the other problems and got a quote of $700. $700 I do not have.
I am already overspent because car insurance was due. I borrowed to pay that. I am still paying that back.
Now Steve is going to fix up his Golf for us to drive in. LMAO. It is a five seater for starters and with the car seat in the back, the poor two boys on either side will be squashed. I am not pleased with this latest developement.
Number two...
I go on the website Kijiji.ca to look for Abby clothes. I found a lady selling ten cute dresses for $25. We agreed on a time and day. The next day she calls me with the excuse that her hubby threw out the dresses. I assume that she is lying, and found someone who offered her a higher price. I thought I was set for the summer. What a bummer.

I cried and then went to bed so that I could end my day.
