Light at the end of the tunnel

I think I have just lived through the toughest 6 weeks ever! My story all starts on Monday August 1st.

Steve was upset and visiting his parents. I was alone with the kids, which doesn't bother me. I love any time we spend together. Steven asked  if I could take him somewhere. I agreed to. He grabbed the keys and left ahead of me. Abby was right behind him. The two of them hopped into the van before I got there. Steven wants to learn to drive. He starts the van for me when we go out. He was sitting in the drivers seat and started the van. I opened the sliding door behind him to put Abby in her seat, when the van started to move backwards. I yelled at Steven to put on the brakes, but since he doesn't drive he didn't know which  pedal was the brake. He accidentally hit the gas. The van jerked backwards. I grabbed the post that the sliding door closes onto and yelled to Steven how to stop the van. I saw the fence behind us and an electrical box. I was afraid that the van was going to hit them. After a few feet Steven got the brake on. What I didn't anticipate was what happened next!
The van jerking backwards suddenly and then stopping just as suddenly caused the sliding door to slam shut! ON MY HAND! I remember it not hurting so much and thinking I need to get that off my hand. I pushed to door off my hand. I am not sure what exactly happened to the sliding door, but it got stuck at the end of the track. When the boys tried to shut the door it came off the track. Here is my van a few feet on the road with a door on the ground. When I look back, I laugh. What a sight!
I looked at my hand and saw a huge bump growing. It got so big, I thought my skin was going to burst! I knew it was going to hurt bad soon, so I headed towards the house. I made it to my lobby and then collapsed. I was light headed and almost passed out three times. I am sure I passed out at least once. I dry heaved for a while as well. My hand hurt so bad! I was crying and could not get off the floor. My oldest son called Steve to hurry home. It felt like forever, but apparently he was home in about 25 minutes. As I lay on the floor, I was sweating profusely.

breakdown

The other night I had a little breakdown. My day was fine, and I an mot exactly sure why I brokedown. I guess I needed it.

I threw a few bowls and they smashed quite nicely on my ceramic floor! I had a bugger of a mess to clean up, but I didn't care.

I think that I have so much to bear, and I should get it out more often, but just in a better fashion.

Construction

I was harassed by my landlord to allow them to put in a new heating/cooling system into my unit. I was resisting this whole idea because i was going to:
1) lose a bedroom,
2) lose space in my living room and my bedroom,
3) I DO NOT like my house in chaos.

Darling hubby convinced me to allow the contractor to start his job in our house. According to the landlord/tenant act, I should have been given 4 months notice, or receive 3 months of rent free. I was so close to filing the paperwork, but Steve talked me out of it. He didn't have the energy to fight. What fight? I would have to do it all!

It was a huge mistake listening to Steve!!!!!

The first day was utter chaos. Random people just entering my house to do various parts of the job. When I went to work Wednesday afternoon, Steve and Abby were sequestered in my bedroom. i was so stressed out by this time. I got to work and was a mess. I knew I was a mess. My partner at work laughed with me about it on Sunday. She was concerned that night. I had Thursday off, so Steve, Abby, and I took off. We tried to pass time not being at home. It was really hard to do! If the weather had been nicer, we would have spent the day at the beach or a park.

At 4:30 Steve told all the contractors to pack up and leave within fifteen minutes. He got upset  because both bathrooms were getting blocked and Abby couldn't use one.

Friday, no one came by to do any work. My house was such a mess. I knew that no one would be here on the weekend. So I figured that things were almost done, and I cleaned up the huge mess that was left behind.

Monday comes and so do ALL the contractors. And so does all the mess again. Just kill me now!

The guys finished on Monday evening.

I really regret allowing there guys into my house. I have been so stressed, my house is a mess, and I still don't have my washing machine hooked up.

Life?

The other day Steve's legs stopped working. This does happen often when he gets a fever, even the smallest one. He was fighting a cold, so I think that's what did him in. I knew Steve was in rough shape, but was unprepared for what was coming our way. Steve went downstairs to play X-Box with Kieran and his friend Brandon. After about an hour, Steve asked for help to get upstairs. That is normal. He requires assistance to move around. What I didn't realize is that his legs were not working. I asked him to stay downstairs, but someone was coming to replace the sliding door, and he wanted to be out of the way. He was also freezing cold due to his fever.
Long story short, we used our 17 year old son and his friend to fireman lift Steve out of the room and down the hall to the stairs. When we got to the stairs, Kieran and Brandon lifted/dragged Steve up the stairs by his arms and I lifted his lower half. At the top of the stairs, we dragged Steve over to the couch. Kieran and I struggled to get Steve up onto the couch. When Steve gets a fever, he usually has urgency to urinate, but needs a urinal because he cannot move.
After a few hours, the fever left and things were a lot easier.
I hate when Steve gets a fever. Usually this happens at night when everyone is sleeping, and I struggle on my own.
Any one have ideas on how we can do this in a better way? I am not srong and Steve is 6'5" and over 200 lbs.
